Masca ist Ausgangspunkt für eine der beliebtesten und berühmtesten Wanderungen auf Teneriffa. Sie beginnt in der unteren Ortsmitte und führt durch den Barranco bis zum Meer (etwa 6 Stunden hin und zurück; nach Anmeldung kann man sich am Strand auch per Schiff abholen lassen.) Dies bringt zahlreiche Touristen in den Ort. Obwohl das ganz überwiegend Tagesbesucher sind, für die der Ort nur ein Ausgangspunkt ist, hat er sich dadurch doch merklich verändert: Gab es 1986 nur eine Bar für die Einheimischen und nur ein Restaurant für Touristen in der alten Schule (damals eines der ältesten Gebäude Mascas), so zählt man heute elf gastronomische Betriebe.
